Small and mid-size defense contractors will incur new costs for compliance as Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) rules are applied to them starting in 2025. For some, these costs are more than their business can bear, potentially limiting or eliminating the innovation and job creation supplied by thousands of small- to medium-sized businesses (SMB) within the defense industrial base (DIB).
